TARGET AUDIENCERecommended for all staff and volunteers in AOD, mental health, and social and emotional wellbeing settings, including management, administration, and ancillary staff members.
MODULE AIMThe aim of this module is to equip you with an understanding of trauma, its effects, and its relevance for all workers and settings.
LEARNING OUTCOMES

By the end of this module you will be able to:

  • define trauma and identify fight, flight, freeze, flop, and fawn responses
  • describe trauma types, their effects, and common reactions
  • recognise factors that influence trauma recovery
  • describe the impacts of complex and developmental trauma
  • describe how trauma affects treatment engagement and behaviours
  • describe how mental health conditions and AOD use can be strategies to cope with trauma
